Oil Water Separator Cleaning Without Upsetting What Is Downstream.

An oil-water separator is where every drop of shop and yard runoff goes, and cleaning it with a solvent sends that solvent to the same place. Hasten Cleanse is a water-based concentrate that suspends the accumulated oil and sludge for pumping, suppresses the vapor in the pit while crews work, and produces wash water the downstream treatment system accepts. No added bacteria, no solvent slug.

Cleaning the Separator

Skim free oil.

Dilute Hasten Cleanse 1:10 for sludge, 1:20 for film. Warm water helps.

Spray the chambers and plates; circulate if the unit allows.

Monitor LEL. Vapor drops as the product bonds to the oil.

Vac the suspension. Oil separates at recovery; water is non-hazardous.

Rinse at 1:50 and return the unit to service.

What Hasten Cleanse does not do

It is not a solvent and not a caustic. It will not dissolve, melt, or strip material that is physically bonded or baked onto a surface: scale, rust, hardened deposits, coatings. It lifts hydrocarbons, oil, grease, crude, sludge, and paraffin, by emulsifying them, and it needs agitation, circulation, pressure, or heat to do that work. If your problem is a stuck-on solid rather than a hydrocarbon film or residue, tell us and we will say so.

Will it hurt the biological treatment downstream?

It is designed not to. No added bacteria, fatty acids feed the existing biology, no solvent. Confirm with your environmental group as with any input.

Does it clean coalescing plates?

It lifts the oil film from them. It does not remove mineral scale.

Vapor in the pit?

It suppresses hydrocarbon vapor while it works. Test and enter under your confined-space procedure.

Flammable?

No. Water-based, no flash point.
